Plant Care

Light Requirements: Requires full sun and should be kept outdoors. Aim for at least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight each day. Junipers should not be kept indoors long-term.

Water Requirements: Water thoroughly when the soil begins to dry, but do not allow the soil to remain constantly soaked. Never allow the bonsai to become completely dry for an extended period.

Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced bonsai fertilizer during the growing season according to product directions. Reduce or stop feeding during winter dormancy.

Soil: Use a fast-draining bonsai soil mix that allows plenty of airflow around the roots. Avoid heavy, water-retaining soil.

Temperature: Juniper Procumbens Nana is an outdoor, cold-hardy bonsai that needs seasonal changes and winter dormancy. Protect the potted roots from extreme cold and harsh winter winds.

Pet Safety: No specific toxicity warning was identified for this cultivar, but pets should not chew on or consume the plant.

Humidity: Outdoor humidity is generally sufficient. Good airflow around the foliage is important.

Growth Habit: A low-growing, spreading evergreen with dense blue-green foliage and flexible branches, making it especially popular for bonsai training and cascading styles.

Important: This is an outdoor bonsai, not an indoor houseplant. Keeping a Juniper Procumbens Nana indoors for extended periods can cause the tree to decline.
