Plant Care
Light Requirements: Provide bright light with several hours of direct or filtered sunlight each day. A sunny south- or west-facing window is ideal. Gradually introduce the arrangement to stronger sunlight to help prevent leaf or cactus burn.
Water Requirements: Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. Water thoroughly once the soil is dry, then allow excess water to drain away. Avoid frequent light watering and never allow the dish to sit in standing water.
Fertilizer: Feed with a diluted cactus or succulent fertilizer once a month during spring and summer. Reduce or stop fertilizing during fall and winter.
Soil: Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent soil mix. Good drainage is especially important in dish gardens to help prevent root rot.
Temperature: Most varieties prefer temperatures around 60–85°F. Protect from frost, freezing temperatures, and cold drafts.
Pet Safety: Pet safety varies depending on the specific plants included. Some succulents are non-toxic, while others may be toxic or irritating if ingested. Cactus spines can also cause injury. Keep the arrangement away from pets and children.
Humidity: Average household humidity is generally suitable. Avoid excessively humid conditions and provide good airflow.
Growth Habit: A decorative arrangement combining several compact cacti and succulents in one dish. Plants may grow as rosettes, upright forms, clustered shapes, or trailing varieties, creating a varied and colorful display.
