Plant Care
Light Requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It can tolerate medium to low light, but growth will be slower. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, especially afternoon sun, which can scorch the fronds.
Water Requirements: Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom, then empty the saucer. Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Reduce watering during the winter months.
Fertilizer: Feed during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer about once a month. Follow the fertilizer's dilution instructions. Reduce or stop fertilizing during fall and winter.
Soil: Use a well-draining, moisture-retentive potting mix. A quality houseplant mix with perlite works well. Avoid heavy or poorly draining soil that can remain wet for long periods.
Temperature: Prefers 65-80 degrees. Keep away from cold drafts, air conditioners, heating vents, and temperatures below about 50 degrees.
Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity but generally adapts well to typical household conditions. Higher humidity can help prevent brown leaf tips, particularly during dry winter months.
Pet Safety: Non-Toxic to cats and dogs.
Growth Habit: Slow-growing with slender stems and graceful, feathery green fronds. It naturally grows in a clumping form and can become several feet tall indoors over time.
