Plant Care

Light Requirements: Bright light is essential. Provide several hours of direct sunlight each day when possible. Indoors, place it near a sunny south- or west-facing window. Gradually introduce the plant to stronger sunlight to prevent leaf scorch.

Water Requirements: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry, then allow excess water to drain from the bottom. Avoid frequent, light watering and never allow the plant to sit in standing water.

Fertilizer: Feed during spring and summer with a balanced succulent or houseplant fertilizer about once a month. Follow the fertilizer's dilution instructions. Reduce or stop fertilizing during fall and winter.

Soil: Use a fast-draining succulent or cactus soil mix. Adding extra perlite, pumice, or coarse sand can improve drainage. Avoid heavy soil that holds moisture for long periods.

Temperature: Prefers 65-85 degrees. Keep away from cold drafts and temperatures below about 50 degrees. Protect it from frost and freezing temperatures.

Humidity: Average household humidity is sufficient. Avoid excessively humid conditions and provide good air circulation around the plant.

Pet Safety: Non-Toxic to cats and dogs.

Growth Habit: A branching succulent with small, rounded green leaves and woody stems. It responds well to pruning and can be trained into a compact bonsai form. With proper care, the stems can develop a thick, attractive trunk over time.

Bonsai Tip: Regular pruning helps maintain the desired shape and encourages branching. Allow new growth to extend before trimming it back to maintain a full, miniature tree-like appearance.
