Plant Care
Light Requirements: Bright, indirect light is best. Variegated plants need plenty of light to support healthy growth and maintain their beautiful coloring. It can tolerate some gentle morning sun, but avoid harsh direct afternoon sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water Requirements: Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom, then empty the saucer. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings, but do not let it remain completely dry for extended periods.
Fertilizer: Feed during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer about once a month. Follow the fertilizer's dilution instructions. Reduce or stop fertilizing during fall and winter.
Soil: Use a well-draining, chunky aroid soil mix. A combination of potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite works well. The mix should provide good drainage and airflow around the roots while retaining some moisture.
Temperature: Prefers 65-85 degrees. Keep away from cold drafts, air conditioners, and temperatures below about 55 degrees.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity. Around 50-70% humidity is ideal, although it can adapt to average household conditions.
Pet Safety: Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. It contains calcium oxalate crystals that can cause oral irritation, drooling, vomiting, and difficulty swallowing.
