Plant Care
Light Requirements: Bright, indirect light is best. It can tolerate some direct morning/evening sun. Indoors, place it near a bright window. More light generally means better growth and a fuller canopy.
Water Requirements: Water thoroughly when the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry. Let excess water drain completely. Don't let the bonsai sit in standing water. It prefers consistent moisture but does not like constantly soggy soil.
Fertilizer: Feed during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to about 1/2 strength every 2-4 weeks. Reduce or stop fertilizing during slower winter growth.
Soil: Use a well-draining bonsai mix. A mixture containing akadama, pumice, lava rock, or other chunky materials works well. Avoid heavy potting soil that stays wet for long periods.
Temperature: Prefers 65-85 degrees. Keep away from cold drafts, heating vents, and sudden temperature changes. Try not to let it drop below 55 degrees.
Pet Safety: Toxic
