Plant Care
Light Requirements: Bright light to full sun, best grown with 6+ hours of direct sunlight daily. Indoors, place it in the brightest window (south or west-facing is ideal). Too little light can cause stretched, weak growth and less blue coloring.
Water Requirements: Low water needs. Use the "soak and dry" method: water deeply, then allow the soil to dry out completely before watering again. Usually every 2-4 weeks depending on season and climate. Water less in winter. Overwatering is the most common cause of root rot.
Fertilizer: Light feeding only. Use a diluted cactus/succulent fertilizer about once in spring and once in summer during active growth. Avoid heavy nitrogen fertilizers which can cause soft, weak growth.
Soil: Needs very fast-draining soil. Use a cactus/succulent mix amended with extra pumice, perlite, or coarse sand. A pot with drainage holes is essential. Ideal soil PH is roughly 6.0-7.5.
Temperature: Prefers 60-85 degrees. Protect from frost. It can tolerate brief temperatures around 30 degrees if dry, but prolonged cold can damage the plant.
Pet Safety: Toxic
