Plant Care
Light Requirements: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It can tolerate medium light, but growth may be slower. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water Requirements: Water when the top 1-2 inches of soil feels dry. Water thoroughly until it drains from the bottom, then empty the saucer. Allow excess water to drain completely and avoid letting the plant sit in standing water, which can lead to root rot.
Fertilizer: Feed during spring and summer with a balanced houseplant fertilizer about once a month. Follow the fertilizer's dilution instructions. Reduce or stop fertilizing during fall and winter when growth slows.
Soil: Use a rich, well-draining potting mix. A quality houseplant mix combined with perlite works well. The soil should retain some moisture without becoming waterlogged.
Temperature: Prefers 65-80 degrees. Keep away from cold drafts, air conditioners, and temperatures below about 50 degrees.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but can adapt to average household conditions. Higher humidity can help maintain healthy foliage and reduce brown leaf edges.
Pet Safety: Non-Toxic to cats and dogs.
Growth Habit: Upright and fast-growing, with a woody trunk and glossy, hand-shaped green leaves. Money Trees can be grown as single-trunk plants or with multiple trunks braided together. As a houseplant, it can eventually reach several feet tall with proper care.
