Plant Care

Light Requirements: Full sun, ideally 6-8 hours+ of direct sunlight per day. More sun helps keep the foliage dense and healthy.

Water Requirements: Water thoroughly when the top layer of soil begins to dry. Soak until water runs freely from the drainage holes.

Fertilizer: Feed during the growing season with a balanced bonsai fertilizer. A slow-release fertilizer or diluted liquid fertilizer works well. Reduce/stop watering during winter dormancy.

Soil: Use a very well-draining bonsai mix, typically a mix containing akadama, pumice, lava rock, or similar inorganic components. avoid regular potting soil, which can retain too much moisture.

Temperature: It can tolerate freezing temperatures and needs a winter dormancy period. Protect the roots from extreme prolonged freezes, especially when growing in a shallow bonsai pot.
