Plant Care
Light Requirements: Provide very bright light with several hours of direct sunlight each day. Strong light encourages the colorful orange and red growth.
Water Requirements: Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain completely. Reduce watering during winter.
Fertilizer: Feed with a diluted cactus or succulent fertilizer once a month during spring and summer. Little to no fertilizer is needed during winter.
Soil: Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent soil mix.
Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures around 65–85°F. Protect from frost and freezing temperatures.
Pet Safety: Toxic and highly irritating if ingested or if the milky sap contacts skin or eyes. Wear gloves when handling and keep away from pets and children.
Humidity: Average household humidity is suitable. High humidity is not necessary.
Growth Habit: An upright, branching succulent with slender, pencil like stems. The colorful new growth can range from yellow and orange to pink and red, especially with strong sunlight.
