Plant Care

Light Requirements: Provide bright, indirect or filtered light. Avoid strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the fronds.

Water Requirements: Keep the soil consistently and lightly moist, but never waterlogged. Do not allow the plant to dry out completely.

Fertilizer: Feed with a half-strength balanced houseplant fertilizer about once a month during spring and summer. Reduce feeding in fall and winter.

Soil: Use a rich, loose, well-draining fern or houseplant mix that retains some moisture.

Temperature: Prefers temperatures around 60–75°F. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Pet Safety: Generally considered pet-safe; ASPCA does not specifically list Asplenium antiquum, but it does list other Asplenium ferns as non-toxic. Keep plants away from pets that like to chew foliage.

Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity and performs best when the air is not excessively dry.

Growth Habit: Forms an attractive upright rosette of broad, glossy green fronds that emerge from a central crown.
