Plant Care
Light Requirements: Provide bright light with several hours of direct sunlight each day. Gradually acclimate plants to stronger light to prevent scorching.
Water Requirements: Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings. Water thoroughly when dry and allow excess water to drain completely. Reduce watering during winter.
Fertilizer: Feed with a diluted cactus or succulent fertilizer once a month during spring and summer. Little to no fertilizer is needed during winter.
Soil: Use a fast-draining cactus or succulent soil mix.
Temperature: Most varieties prefer temperatures around 60–85°F. Protect from frost and freezing temperatures.
Pet Safety: Pet safety varies by cactus variety. Many common cacti are non-toxic, but their spines can cause injury if touched or chewed. Keep away from pets and children.
Humidity: Average household humidity is suitable. Avoid excessively humid conditions.
Growth Habit: Assorted cacti may grow as round, upright, columnar, clustered, or spreading plants depending on the variety.
