Plant Care
Light Requirements: Provide bright light with several hours of direct or filtered sunlight each day. Gradually acclimate the plant to stronger direct light.
Water Requirements: Water when the top layer of soil begins to dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain completely. Large plants may require more frequent watering during periods of active growth.
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced fertilizer about once a month during spring and summer. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.
Soil: Use a rich, well draining soil mix that retains moderate moisture without becoming waterlogged.
Temperature: Prefers temperatures around 65–85°F. Protect from temperatures below about 50°F and cold drafts.
Pet Safety: Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity.
Growth Habit: A large, upright, clumping tropical plant with huge banana-like leaves that can create an impressive indoor jungle effect. It can eventually reach several feet tall indoors.
