Plant Care
Light Requirements: Provide bright, indirect light with several hours of gentle direct morning sunlight when possible. Gradually acclimate the plant to stronger light.
Water Requirements: Water when the top layer of soil begins to dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain completely. Avoid constantly soggy soil.
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced liquid or houseplant fertilizer about once a month during spring and summer. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.
Soil: Use a rich, well-draining potting mix with good organic matter and drainage.
Temperature: Prefers temperatures around 65–85°F. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below about 50°F.
Pet Safety: Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.
Humidity: Prefers high humidity, especially in dry indoor environments.
Growth Habit: A large, upright, clumping tropical plant with enormous banana-like leaves. Mature plants can become very tall and are ideal as dramatic statement plants.
