Plant Care
Light Requirements: Provide full sun to bright light. Indoors, place it in the brightest location available.
Water Requirements: Keep the soil consistently moist during active growth but never waterlogged. Large banana plants can use substantial amounts of water during warm weather.
Fertilizer: Feed regularly with a balanced fertilizer during active growth in spring and summer to support vigorous foliage production.
Soil: Use a rich, fertile, well-draining soil mix with plenty of organic matter.
Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures around 65–85°F. Although Musa basjoo is unusually cold tolerant outdoors, container plants should still be protected from severe freezing conditions.
Pet Safety: Non-Toxic to cats and dogs.
Humidity: Appreciates moderate to high humidity.
Growth Habit: A fast-growing, clumping banana with enormous paddle-shaped leaves emerging from a thick pseudostem. New shoots can develop around the base.
