Plant Care
Light Requirements: Provide bright, filtered or indirect light indoors. Several hours of filtered sunlight each day is ideal.
Water Requirements: Allow the soil to dry somewhat between waterings. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain completely. Avoid overwatering.
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced palm or houseplant fertilizer during spring and summer according to product directions. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.
Soil: Use a sandy, fast-draining soil mix. Excellent drainage is essential.
Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures around 65–80°F. Protect from frost, freezing temperatures, and cold drafts.
Pet Safety: Highly Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. All parts of the Sago Palm are toxic, including the seeds.
Humidity: Average household humidity is generally suitable. Good airflow around the foliage is beneficial.
Growth Habit: A very slow-growing cycad with a short, sturdy trunk and a dramatic crown of stiff, glossy green fronds.
