Plant Care
Light Requirements: Provide bright, indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning sunlight can be beneficial, but protect the leaves from intense afternoon sun.
Water Requirements: Allow the top 2–3 inches of soil to dry slightly before watering. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain completely.
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced houseplant fertilizer during spring and summer. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.
Soil: Use a rich, well-draining soil mix with good organic matter and airflow around the roots.
Temperature: Prefers temperatures around 65–80°F. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.
Pet Safety: Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested.
Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity and benefits from protection from very dry air.
Growth Habit: An upright indoor tree with a woody trunk and large, leathery, fiddle-shaped leaves. It makes a dramatic focal point in larger rooms and offices.
