Plant Care
Light Requirements: Provide bright, indirect light. A few hours of gentle morning sunlight can be beneficial, but avoid harsh direct afternoon sun.
Water Requirements: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain completely. Avoid constantly wet soil.
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced houseplant fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.
Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix containing potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite.
Temperature: Prefers temperatures around 65–85°F. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below about 50°F.
Pet Safety: Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Monstera plants contain insoluble calcium oxalates that can cause mouth irritation and difficulty swallowing.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but generally adapts to average household conditions.
Growth Habit: A trailing and climbing tropical vine with heart-shaped leaves that develop distinctive holes, or fenestrations, as the plant matures.
