Plant Care
Light Requirements: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate medium to lower light. Brighter filtered light helps maintain its attractive leaf striping. Avoid prolonged exposure to strong direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Water Requirements: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry before watering. Water thoroughly, then allow excess water to drain completely. Avoid keeping the soil soggy or allowing the plant to sit in standing water.
Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced houseplant fertilizer every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer. Reduce feeding during fall and winter.
Soil: Use a well-draining, all-purpose houseplant potting mix. Good drainage helps prevent root problems caused by excess moisture.
Temperature: Prefers warm indoor temperatures around 65–80°F. Protect from cold drafts and temperatures below about 50°F.
Pet Safety: Toxic to cats and dogs if ingested. Dracaenas contain saponins that can cause vomiting and other symptoms in pets.
Humidity: Average household humidity is generally suitable. Moderate humidity can help reduce brown leaf tips, particularly during dry winter months.
Growth Habit: A slow-growing, upright Dracaena with cane like stems and dense clusters of long, striped leaves. With time, the cane can become woody and develop additional leafy growth, making it a popular choice for homes and offices.
